Awsome Skills!

I was messing with my palm today and realized it needed an update really bad. I hadn't given it an update previous to today because I forgot my cable, but it needed an update. I found out that my laptop has an infrared port right on the front. If you don't know, most palm pilots use infrared to transfer and receive data. So I thought I'd try having my palm talk to my computer thrgouh this infrared port on the front. I ran into problems straight away. My computer was picking up a signal, but my palm wouldn't connect. So I messed with the settings on both devices and...presto...right? Not! I still couldn't get anything. I worked for a couple more minutes and by the end I had both of them talking. I was pretty extatic that I got it to work all by myself. Now I am able to update it whenever I want! :)

Snow!

I was getting jealous of all the snow back home. I wanted some here. All we were getting was cold and bitter winds. Then just this morning at about 1:00 a.m. it started to snow! Though we got about 1/50th of an inch. I was excited though because the weatherman says more is on its way. However, riding a bike on snow and ice is a little difficult. I can do it! :)
Classes are still going just fine. My grades are up, which is good so I can keep my scholarships. Institute classes are awesome. Speaking of which, I'm going to try out to be in the performance of the "Messiah" in December. That will be pretty fun. Also, the choir has a performance in two weeks. There is a lof of singing to be done!
I look forward to Thanksgiving break. Although it might not be so fun this year because I have a dentist appointment the day before. Maybe that will help me not to eat so much...haha...probably not. I think I have a ride home for Thanksgiving, but I'm not sure yet. I just might hop on my bike...no...that's a bad idea. :)

Finally!!

I have been eating cafeteria food for the past month and it gets old eating pasta every nite (yes I spelled that wrong on purpose) because every other choice is disgusting. But finally, today, I was not only able to eat something else for a change, but I was also able to help prepare it. I went over to my "Lovell Friend's" house and helped cook stew and bread. The meal was sure a welcomed change from cafeteria food. We had about 20 people there in that tiny apartment, but it was a blast and the food was great. We also watched "Emperor's New Groove", as well. I like that movie. Now I'm just wishing I had a kitchen, but that is what I get for living in the dorms. I can't complain, though, since it is free.

I made cake in my dorm room!

So, my roommate and I just made some cake in our dorm room. How cool is that; not many people can say they have done that before. ;) It was actually really good, too. It took about three minutes to make so we didn't have to wait long to eat it. But the clean up afterward took about fifteen minutes, which was a pain. Luckily one of my friends's mom from home had given me a dish scrubbie for graduation and it really came in handy. Thanks for the red velvet cake mother. It as delicious!

Rim Rock Ranch

So the Honors Program hosts a trip up to the Rim Rock Ranch near Cody every year. I went with them. We left Thursday and got back Sunday. Actually I rode up with a friend from Lovell, but it was a blast. We got to stay in log cabins and had a main lodge where we ate and had all sorts of fun. There was also a jar that seemed to never run out of chocolate chip cookies, (though one night we stayed up telling stories and getting to know each other and managed to empty the jar!). They weren't comparable to the ones I got in the mail, though. :) We went to Yellowstone. I've been there quite a few times, but it was the trip there that was the best. I couldn't explain, however, because it was one of those "you had to be there" times. We also went to the Buffalo Bill Museum and I have also been there more times than I can count. So I was able to pretty much be a tour guide. hehe There was also a hot tub and a game room (with pool, ping pong, fooseball, etc.). On Saturday, we went for a hike. Well, it was more like a stroll, but our leader, the Honors President: Duncan, is old so it was a hike for him. We went up this trail for about 45 minutes and when we got to the top I wasn't even tired. Duncan turned back and took about five people with him. The rest of us continued up this ledge, which was a much more fullfilling hike. We got to the top and the non-Wyomingites took lots of pictures. It was neat. All of those students were really fun to be around. Oh, while I was up on top, I found a really old match case. I thought it would be cool to bring home. But when we got back to the lodge, I open it and inside were discharge papers from the navy. It was a discharge from serving in WW2. How cool is that! Anyway, I gained a lot of new friends. One of them is from Iraq. He, Ali, is awesome and hilarious. He also taught us how to count to 10 in arabic. Neat, huh? Well, I have some studying to do, so tata for now

Homework!

Terrible! I was told it would get worse, but it hasn't. Though I already don't like some of my teachers. My Engineering 1060 teacher (a student) is mean when it comes to grading. So, I started an assignment and one problem took half the page. So, not wanting to waste paper, I started the next problem on the last half and it continued to the next page. She graded me down for doing this. Apparently I was supposed to start the next problem a new sheet and waste that half of the page. Other things like that have been happening, but I have managed to keep my grades up, still. It better not get any worse...

Cookies!

So mom sent me a package and I knew it was coming because it had my debit card in it. But when I opened it, all I could see was snowman poop. So I started to dig in and the first thing that I pulled out was a 24oz bottle of vegetable oil...strange. But then I dug in some more and pulled out a can of spray vegetable oil...what the heck! I was beginning to wonder if it was subliminal messaging for me to eat more vegetables during meals or something because I don't have a kitchen in my room to use the stuff. And then I pull out some measuring spoons and cups and was really confused. Then I pulled out a huge bag of assorted cookies and stopped right there. I took the bag, climbed onto my bed and started eating the still-soft, homemade cookies. They were delicious. After eating some cookies, I finished unpacking and found some cake-mix which is what the vegetable oil is for, "cup-cakes" (in a mug). I wasn't confused anymore. Anyway, I'm doing great. All of my homework is done. But I have to go do laundry now...
